Employee Spotlight: Simon Bond
We are delighted to welcome Simon Bond to Bluestream Recruitment. Simon will be running the Business Support desk which includes HR, Finance, Sales & Marketing and Office support roles. With 25 years’ experience recruiting, it is fair to say Simon knows his market inside out so we are thrilled to have him on board.
We chatted with Simon to find out how he got started in recruitment and what inspires him to help candidates find careers they are passionate about.
When did you know you wanted to pursue a career in recruitment?
In my early 20s, I fell into it and enjoyed it so much I stayed.
What inspires you to come to work each day?
Although it sounds like a cliché, I am passionate about finding candidates a role that they love and giving clients a service which over delivers.
What advice would you give someone who's interested in this career?
You will need plenty of motivation, perseverance and a good sense of humour. It will also take time for you to see some success.
What skills are important for someone in your role?
The ability to listen is THE most important skill and the ability to make good tea always helps!
What do you love best about working in recruitment?
Working with people and potentially changing their life for the better.
Tell us about your proudest professional moment so far?
Running my own business was the hardest and most rewarding and working in Australia in recruitment was the most fun.
Whilst in Australia, I placed a marketing manager who now runs the company and has been there for 15 years!
What interests do you have outside of work?
River swimming, surfing, keeping fit and cooking up new recipes as I am a very amateur chef!
What is your mantra?
I have 2:
Treat everyone the same and be nice to people on the way up as you may meet them again on the way down.
Don't take life or yourself too seriously.
