Meet Our Team: Mike Davies

We are delighted to welcome Mike to Bluestream. He'll be looking after Technical vacancies. We sat down with Mike to find out brought him to a career in recruitment and what makes him tick.

When did you know you wanted to pursue a career in recruitment?
In my previous role as Team Manager I was responsible for recruiting and developing people, and truly loved doing so, so it felt like the right career move for me.

What inspires you to come to work each day?
My family and knowing that I am truly helping people make that next step in their career.

What advice would you give someone who's interested in this career?
Do your research, the job is a lot tougher than you could ever imagine – I must be crazy but I love it!

What skills are important for someone in your role?
Listening and good communication skills.

What do you love best about working in recruitment?
The huge satisfaction when you help someone get their dream job.

Tell us about your proudest professional moment so far?
Helping someone who had been looking for a while, although he had applied for several roles he was not getting invited to interview. I suggested he spent a little time on his CV, he objected at first but when I explained my reasons he made some changes. This resulted in him being invited to interview, and having taken on board my tips and advice for interview,  he was offered the job!

What interests do you have outside of work?
Family, golf, skateboarding, and unicycling.

What is your mantra? 
When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.
