Job Description

 This is truly a unique opportunity for an experienced Space or Satellite Engineer looking to get involved with Space Situational Awareness.

As Space Situational Awareness Solutions Engineer you will help shape the SSA business strategy and support the development of future revenue generating SSA services and capabilities. 

As Space Situational Awareness Solutions Engineer you will provide technical input to ensure successful delivery of SSA projects and programmes alongside engineering teams, to develop novel SSA solutions, which are commercially viable and technically practical, to support future proposals, whilst

  • Working closely with the Business Development team to support the development and preparation of proposals and bids for SSA activities.
  • Helping build and manage technical relationships and collaborations to meet our SSA business objectives.
  • Producing technical responses to ITTs and PQQs within the agreed budget and timescales.
  • Working closely with the Business Analysis team to provide input into market analysis on SSA.
  • Supporting the Head of SSA in the development of the company’s strategic direction for SSA.
  • Supporting SSA procurement activities, including development and review of RFI’s and RFPs.
  • Participating in technical meetings, both in the UK and abroad, with academic collaborators, industry, and government agencies, both civil and defence.

 

For the Space Situational Awareness Solutions Engineer role you will:

  • Be educated to PhD/MSc or equivalent in an engineering, mathematics or scientific discipline, ideally in the field of spacecraft design, mission analysis, space situational awareness, ground-segment and/or operations.
  • Be able to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to collect, evaluate and synthesize multiple sources of information, e.g. articles and research papers, and develop technical solutions to real world problems.
  • Have strong analytical mindset and strong quantitative skills – ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Be passionate about space, ideally with good commercial knowledge of the space sector.
  • Have a strong understanding of the space and satellite industry, commercial and non-commercial, especially in the fields of SSA and In-orbit servicing.
  • Have detailed knowledge of SSA systems, including Electro-Optical and Radio Frequency based sensors, both ground-based systems and space-based payloads.
  • Have experience working with UK defence and security programmes.
  • Be prepared to travel international
  • Be eligible for UK security clearance
