 This is truly a unique opportunity for Astrodynamicist or Mission Analyst looking to get involved with Space Situational Awareness.

As Space Situational Awareness Mission Analyst you will shape solutions for our future missions, by analysing and assessing SSA data, and developing new and novel tools and capabilities

As Space Situational Awareness Mission Analyst you will work on all aspects of software development on state-of-the-art simulators, from analysis and design, through to testing and deployment, together with

  • Advancing in-house analysis capabilities to support future mission planning including, but not limited to, space object attitude analysis using photometry and satellite laser ranging observations.
  • Developing tools to extract and analyse observational data from future on-orbit SSA payloads
  • Developing capabilities to assess Rendezvous and Proximity Operation (RPO) activities from a SSA observations and measurements
  • Supporting the development of SSA and telemetry data analytics, including data acquisition, archiving, processing, and trend analysis
  • Acting as a technical interface between SSA services and the mission planning, operations, and flight dynamics (FD) teams.
  • Support the FD teams by contributing to the development of RPO conjunction assessment processes
  • Supporting the creation of novel SSA service options to complement current SSA service providers
  • Supporting SSA procurement activities through expert, evidence-based analysis
  • Providing technical support for SSA bids and proposals
  • Participating in technical meetings, both in the UK and abroad, with academic collaborators, industry, and government agencies.


For the Space Situational Awareness Mission Analyst role you will:

  • Be educated to PhD/MSc or equivalent in an engineering, mathematics or scientific discipline, ideally in the field of spacecraft design, mission analysis, space situational awareness, ground-segment and/or operations.
  • Have a strong understanding of the space and satellite industry, commercial and non-commercial, especially in the fields of SSA and In-orbit servicing.
  • Have detailed knowledge of SSA systems, including Electro-Optical and Radio Frequency based sensors, both ground-based systems and space-based payloads.
  • Have experience working with UK defence and security programmes.
  • Be eligible for UK Security clearance
